Offensive Edge – South Korea (-108)

South Korea, who won bronze at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, is out to prove that that podium finish in men’s soccer wasn’t a fluke at all.

The Taeguk Warriors have certainly impressed in Rio, coming out on top of Group C over the likes of Germany and reigning gold-medal winners Mexico. Attacking midfielder Kwon Chang-hoon has been the man possessed for his country as he has scored a goal in each of the three group-stage matches.

As for Honduras, they can’t seem to find a consistent scorer from their roster just yet, as all five of their goals so far have come from five different players. South Korea, on the other hand, has scored 12 goals in the tournament, making it pretty clear who really has the upper hand offensively.

Defensive Edge – South Korea (-108)

Honduras had the unfortunate task of being pitted against heavyweights Argentina and Portugal in Group D, and they earned a quarter-final berth by eking past Argentina by way of a 1-1 tie in their final Group-D match and ending up with a one-goal point differential against Los Albicelestes in the group standings.

While Los Catrachos have surprised many viewers by dispatching some of the finest national soccer clubs in the Olympics, their five goals allowed still pales in comparison that of South Korea’s mere three goals surrendered. In fact, Honduras scored just as many goals as they have permitted, whereas the Taeguk Warriors finished with a superb plus-nine goal differential in group play.

Writer’s Prediction: South Korea narrowly advances to the semis, 2-1.
