Betting on the St. Louis Blues (+1.5)
Regular Season Record: 49-22-11
The loss of starting goalie Jordan Binnington is impacting the Blues hard. They definitely felt that in Monday’s 6-3 loss to Colorado, wherein St. Louis started Ville Husso and allowed five goals on 36 shots faced. The Avs are smelling blood and could finish things off this coming Wednesday, but St. Louis can spoil a potential home come celebration by Colorado if the likes of David Perron and Pavel Buchnvevich keep it going. Perron had a pair of goals in Game 4, while Buchnevich had a goal and an assist. It’s also a good sign for the Blues that their power play continues to torch Colorado’s special teams, having gone 4/8 on the man advantage in the series, thus far.
The Blues are 7-3 in their last 10 games away from home.
Betting on the Colorado Avalanche (-1.5)
Regular Season Record: 56-19-7
Nazem Kadri exploded for three goals to go along with an assist in Game 3 to earn first-star honors. He is now tied with Gabriel Landeskog and Nathan MacKinnon for the team’s goal-scoring lead in the playoffs with five apiece. That Colorado has three five-goal scorers in the playoffs (and five with at least four goals) speaks volumes about how dangerous the Avs are on the offensive end of the ice. The Avs are no. 1 among all teams in the playoffs with 4.5 goals for per contest. And while they are being dominated by St. Louis’ power-play attack, the Avalanche are weathering that by winning the possession battle on even strength by a large margin.
The Avalanche, who are posting a 5-on-5 62.47 CF% in the series, are 7-3 in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Avalanche win, 4-3.
