Instead of baseball, the Yankee Stadium will play host to a marquee college football showdown between the Syracuse Orange (8-2/5-2) and the No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish 10-0 (0-0) in the Shamrock Series. Both teams are on a winning streak, meaning only one of them will leave Bronx with their unbeaten run still intact. Notre Dame is priced at +1200 to win the College Football Championship, trailing only behind Alabama (-300), Clemson (+350), and Michigan (+800).

Betting on the Syracuse Orange (8-2 Overall / 5-2 Conference)
The Orange had enough of the Louisville Cardinals beating and crushing them. After four-straight losses to the Cardinals in which they were outscored 187-61, the Orange finally got their revenge last Friday, handing Syracuse a 54-23 loss at home. The Orange nearly turned burned their own turf, as they rushed for 326 yards and five touchdowns on 55 carries. Orange junior running back Moe Neal paced the team with a fantastic total of 159 rushing yards and two touchdowns on eight attempts, while quarterback Eric Dungey had 62 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground to add to his 192 passing yards and a touchdown (with an interception) on 14-of-27 completions. Perhaps even more impressive was the Orange’s defense that crippled Louisville’s attack. Syracuse recorded six sacks and two interceptions. Syracuse is a master in forcing opponents to cough up possessions. In fact, the Orange are third in the nation with 2.4 takeaways per game.
The Orange are 3-1 ATS in their last four games away from home.
Betting on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (10-0 Overall / 0-0 Conference)
Playing in place of injured Ian Book, backup quarterback Brandon Wimbush made the most out of his return to the starting unit in last week’s 42-13 demolition of a win over the Florida State Seminoles at home. Wimbush did not have electrifying numbers, but nonetheless had 130 passing yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions on 12-of-25 completions. In addition, Wimbush had 68 rushing yards on 12 carries. Wimbush, however, is likely to revert back to his backup role this coming weekend, as Book is expected to return to action. The Fighting Irish are simply a much better team with Book under center. Book is No. 1 in the nation with a 74.5 completion percentage. He is also sixth in passing efficiency with a 170.0 clip. On the season, Book has 1,824 passing yards and 15 touchdowns against four interceptions. Although Syracuse’s defense is second in the ACC with 14 picks, Book’s precision and tall, athletic receivers should be able to make life hard for Orange’s secondary.
Notre Dame is 2-0-1 in its last three road games.
Writer’s Prediction
Syracuse shocks Notre Dame with a 27-23 win.
