Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-2)

Somehow, the ghost of Roberto Aguayo seemingly continues to haunt the Bucs, as Matt Gay missed a would-have-been 34-yard field goal attempt in last Sunday’s 32-31 home loss to the New York Giants. Jameis Winston played well overall, with 380 passing yards and three touchdowns on 23 of 37 completions, but his lone interception also helped the Giants complete a dramatic comeback. If there’s a silver lining in the loss for the Bucs, it’s that star wide receiver Mike Evans has finally played like what he’s being paid to do. Evans was relatively silent in the first two games of the season but exploded for 190 receiving yards and three touchdowns on eight catches against the Rams. Evans will be a man to watch by the Rams’ stacked defense, so other Bucs will have to step up and share the load with the former Texas A&M wideout. Among those Tampa Bay is expecting to show up is Chris Godwin, who only had 40 receiving yards in Week 3.

The Bucs are 2-0-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last three road games.

Betting on the Los Angeles Rams (3-0)

The Rams are the latest team to teach the Cleveland Browns that preseason hype doesn’t always translate to success in the regular season, as they beat Baker Mayfield and company on the road in Week 2, 20-13. However, the Rams left much to be desired on offense, with Jared Goff having an inconsistent game. Goff passed for 269 yards and two touchdowns with a pair of interceptions on 23 of 38 completions. Running back Todd Gurley looks has yet to play like he usually had in previous seasons, coming up with just 43 rushing yards on 14 carries against the Browns. But the Rams fed off their incredible defense, led by a destructive force in Aaron Donald. The defensive tackle made several disruptive plays in the Browns’ pocket, forcing Mayfield to make bad throws.  Donald and the Rams’ stop unit will be ready for the Bucs’ offense. They are allowing just 16.3 points and 285.7 total yards per contest.

The Rams are 3-0 ATS in their last three home games.

Writer’s Prediction

The Rams win, 27-19.
