The New York Jets are set to play their last home game of the season this coming weekend against the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Jets are not going to make the playoffs, but what a pleasure they’d give their home fans if they can take down Brady and the reigning Super Bowl champs in an upset victory. Sure, the Jets can dream, but will the Bucs even allow that to happen? Check out our preview below of this game between the Bucs and Jets in Week 17.

Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+8.5)
Regular Season Record: 11-4
The Buccanneers clinched the NFC South division title with a 32-6 win over the Carolina Panthers on the road in Week 16. The Bucs won the game despite missing several key players. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Leonard Fournette, Lavonte David, and Jason Pierre-Paul all didn’t play against the Panthers, but Tom Brady, Antonio Brown, and the pair of Ke’Shawn Vaughn and Ronald Jones II plus Tampa Bay’s defense all put together a tremendous effort to blast the Panthers. The aforementioned players who missed Week 16 can take another week of rest, considering that Tampa Bay will just be up against the lowly Jets in Week 17. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence had a solid outing in Week 16 against the Jets, a performance that doesn’t bode well for how the Jets will fare against Brady and Brown, who had 101 receiving yards on 10 catches.
The Buccaneers are 5-1 against the spread in their last 6 games overall.
Betting on the New York Jets (-8.5)
Regular Season Record: 4-11
Say what you want against the Jets, but at least they have yet to lose four games in a row this season. They snapped a three-game skid in Week 16 with a 26-21 home win over the Jacksonville Jaguars for New York’s fourth win of the season. Rookie quarterback Zach Wilson went 14/22 for 102 yards and a touchdown, while also avoiding a thrown interception. He also rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on four carries. Meanwhile, running back Michael Carter, another rookie, paced the Jets with 118 rushing yards on 16 carries. Tampa Bay’s run defense is arguably the best in the NFL this season, so asking for Carter to have the same success in Week 17 could be tough, so hopefully for Wilson, he can put together a decent performance through the air against the Bucs’ more exploitable pass defense.
The Jets are 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 games after recording fewer than 150 yards passing in their previous outing.
Writer’s Prediction
The Buccaneers win, 34-17.
