Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-5)
It’s easy to blame Jameis Winston for the Bucs’ pile of losses, but he also needs help from the offensive line and the running backs. Winston passed for 301 yards and two touchdowns in the Bucs’ 27-23 road loss to the Tennessee Titans last Sunday. He also had two interceptions and was sacked three times for a loss of 18 yards. Winston can throw the ball, and will continue to do so, especially with two incredibly talented wide receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin , not to mention tight end Cameron Brate. But if Ronald Jones and Peyton Barber could put together a consistent rushing attack, Winston can attract less attention from opposing defenses. Winston and the Bucs’ offense could have a big outing this coming weekend against Seattle, which has problems on their passing defense. The Seahawks are allowing 273.2 passing yards per game –27th in the NFL — and had just been torched for 443 passing yards by all-time great Matt Schaub.
The Bucs have seen the total go 5-0 in their last five games.
Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (6-2)
The Seahawks are back up and running again after getting undercut by the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7. After the loss to the Ravens, the Seahawks took down the Atlanta Falcons, 27-20, on the road, though, head coach Pete Carroll definitely did not like the overall performance of his men, particularly on defense. As mentioned above, the Seahawks made backup Matt Schaub look like a future Hall of Famer. But the Seahawks could also have the edge in case the game against the Bucs become a shootout. The Seahawks have the better backfield that’s feeding off the tandem of Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny. Quarterback Russell Wilson is an MVP candidate capable of roasting Tampa Bay’s defense that is the third worst in the NFL in terms of scoring defense and 27th overall in passing yards allowed per game.
The Seahawks are 7-3 straight up (SU) in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Seahawks win, 31-27.
