Betting on the Tennessee Titans
These preseason games are a nice way to gauge how comfortable the Titans are under the guidance and system of their new head coach Mike Vrabel. It’s also going to help sort out any dilemma of the team with regards to who they should start as starters on some positions. That includes the inside linebacker slot that is still being contended by Rashaan Evans and veteran Will Compton. Evans had the job in the bag a while back but he suffered an illness during the training camp that allowed Compton to close the gap between the two players. Over on the other side of the field, the departure of running back Demarco Murray puts Derrick Henry in line to be the starter, though, he can get challenged by Dion Lewis. Regardless of how things go this offseason, Henry and Lewis are the No. 1 and No. 2 running backs, with the battle for No. 3 slot the one that’s going to be interesting to see. That would likely be a job that will fall on the lap of either David Fluellen or Akrum Wadley, who are expected to see plenty of action this Thursday.
Betting on the Green Bay Packers
The Packers’ offense will be a threat so long as Aaron Rodgers is the one directing the traffic. However, he’s been injured often over the last few seasons, so tightening up the pass protection is among the top priorities of Green Bay this offseason. Rodgers is not going to suit up this Thursday but Green Bay coaches will be paying close attention to the o-line and how it does in keeping Brett Hundley, DeShone Kizer, and Tim Boyle upright. Speaking of the quarterbacks, who Rodgers’ main backup will be next season is to be decided likely between Hundley and Kizer. Hundley could be a step ahead of Kizer, as he’s been with the team longer. However, Hundley didn’t realty inspire much when he made starts in lieu of then-injured Rodgers in 2017. The Packers would also like to see improvements in their ground attack after finishing just 17th in the league last season with a middling 107.8 rushing yards per game.
Writer’s Prediction
Tennessee wins, 27-21.
