TV Broadcast: CBS

Betting on the Tennessee Titans (1-1)

Despite not playing Marcus Mariota, the Titans defeated the Houston Texans on Sunday, 20-17. In lieu of Mariota, the Titans started Blaine Gabbert under center, and the backup threw for 117 yards on 13-of-20 completions with a touchdown and zero interceptions – more than the Titans could ever have expected from the second string QB. It’s unclear as of this writing whether Mariota will be ready to go in Week 3, but should he remain sidelined, the Titans’ offense will likely be run heavy again. In the Houston game, Tennessee only threw the ball 22 times and rushed it 34 times for 100 yards. Derrick Henry had 56 rushing yards on 18 carries, while Dion Lewis had 42 yards on 14 rushing attempts. Aside from Mariota, All-Pro right tackle Taylor Lewan is also questionable for the Jags game with a concussion.

The over is 3-1 in the last four road games of the Titans, who are averaging 20.0 points per game this season.

Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-0)

The Jaguars got some measure of revenge for their AFC title game loss to the New England Patriots, as they trounced Tom Brady and company on Sunday, 31-20. Prior to that, Jacksonville was 0-8 SU against Tom Brady all-time, so that win definitely felt good. Jags quarterback Blake Bortles out-Bradied Tom Brady, as he passed for 377 yard and four touchdowns. As always, the Jags’ defense was a big key, too, as they limited New England to only 302 total yards. The Jaguars could have done more damage if they did not shoot their own foot with two turnovers. Rookie wide receiver DJ Chark had a lost fumble, while Bortles had an interception. Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette’s status is also worth monitoring for bettors. Fournette missed the Pats game with a hamstring injury, and he’s currently labeled as questionable for Week 3’s matchup with the Titans.

The Jaguars are 3-1 SU and ATS in their last four games against Tennessee. They are also allowing just 17.5 points and 313.0 total yards per game this season.

Writer’s Prediction

Jacksonville wins, 28-23.
