Tennessee Titans vs New York Giants Predictions, Picks, Odds, and Betting Preview – NFL Week 15 – December 16 2018

The Tennessee Titans (+3,500 to win the AFC) are very much alive in the hunt for a playoff spot in the AFC, as they have a 7-6 record entering Week 15 – tied for three other teams, including the Baltimore Ravens, who are the current owners of the second and final wild card spot in the conference. The New York Giants (+40,000 to win the NFC title), meanwhile, are still not giving up on their hopes to reserve a seat in the postseason, though, their margin for failure is very slim. Speaking of, the sportsbook is calling a close one here and in fact favoring the 5-8 home team by less than a field goal which has some bettors pumped as many experts anticipate a Titans win.

Betting on the Tennessee Titans (7-6)

The good news for the Titans is that they bolstered their playoff chances with a 30-9 destruction of the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14. The bad news is that they lost two starters for the rest of the year, as tight end Jonnu Smith and offensive tackle Jack Conklin have have been placed by the team on the injured reserve after both players hurt their knees in the Jags game. Losing those two players are huge for the Titans, but at least they’ll enter Week 15 knowing that running back Derrick Henry is riding a tremendous momentum after his record-setting performance in last week’s victory in which he had 238 rushing yards and four rushing scores. While Henry is unlikely to repeat such a performance, the Titans are going to depend on him and fellow tailback Dion Lewis to have a bigger load on offense, especially against the Giants’ middling stop unit that is only 22nd in the NFL with 121.8 rushing yards allowed per contest. The Titans will also rely on their stout defense that is fourth overall with just 19.5 points surrendered per game.

The over is 3-0 in the Titans’ last three games overall.

Betting on the New York Giants (5-8)

The Giants are playing better of late. After upsetting the Chicago Bears in Week 13 at home, the Giants proceeded to take down the self-immolating Washington Redskins the following Sunday in a 40-16 win on the road. That the Giants managed to defeat Washington in such a dominant manner even without Odell Beckham Jr. tells a lot about the potential of the team on offense with running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley rushed for 170 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries against the Redskins. Barkley is a threat to explode regardless of who the Giants are up against, but his production can be capped a bit with Beckham getting ruled out again due to nagging quad injury. In any case, Barkley should get some help from quarterback Eli Manning and tight end Evan Engram. Manning has 10 touchdowns against just two interceptions in the last five games, while Engram has 189 receiving yards in the last three.

The Giants are 2-0 SU in their last two games at home.

Writer’s Prediction

Tennessee wins, 23-20.
