Betting on the Tennessee Volunteers (-3.5)

There’s just no stopping Tennessee right now. The Volunteers stretched their unbeaten run to four games with a thrilling 38-28 victory over the Florida Gators on Saturday. The Vols battled back from an early 21-0 deficit to end their 11-game losing streak against the Gators. Quarterback Joshua Dobbs starred for the Vols in this come-from-behind win, accounting for five touchdowns in the second half.

After going 7 of 20 for 84 yards with a pick in the opening half, Dobbs was 9 of 12 for 235 yards and four scores and an interception the rest of the way. Jauan Jennings and Josh Malone benefited from Dobbs’ inspired play, finishing with 111 and 91 yards, respectively. The two receivers also nabbed a touchdown apiece in this game.

Things are bound to get tougher, though, for the unbeaten Volunteers as standing in their way in the next game are the Georgia Bulldogs. The Vols have lost in each of their last four away meetings with the Bulldogs. Georgia is 2-1-1 ATS during this span. For the Vols to grab their first road victory against the Bulldogs since 2006, they will need Dobbs to stand tall once again. He picked apart a Florida defense that had been allowing just 4.7 points and 129.7 yards per game prior to their meeting on Saturday.

Tennessee is 6-4 ATS in its last 10 road games. The Vols are pegged at +2,200 to win the national championship this season.

Betting on the Georgia Bulldogs (+3.5)

Georgia’s playoff hopes were dealt a major blow on Saturday when it suffered a humiliating 45-14 defeat to the Ole Miss Rebels at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The Bulldogs had no answer for Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly, who threw for 282 yards and a pair of touchdowns. It was a disappointing result for Georgia, who had won all of its previous 10 games against Ole Miss. The main reason behind the Bulldogs’ meek performance was their poor execution on their third downs. Georgia converted just four of its 16 third-down opportunities in the loss to Ole Miss.

They will look to get their season back on track when they take on the streaking Tennessee Volunteers this coming Saturday. For the Bulldogs to record the much-needed victory, they will need to improve on their play on the defensive end. They trailed by as much as 45 points against Ole Miss on Saturday. Their defensive line was pretty much non-existent in that one-sided loss as Ole Miss ran for a season-high 180 yards.

Another major concern for head coach Kirby Smart heading into this weekend’s clash is Nick Chubb’s ankle injury. The star running back sprained his ankle in the second quarter on Saturday and didn’t return. Chubb has been a beast for the Bulldogs this season, rushing for 422 yards and three scores over his first four games. With Chubb possibly sidelined, the onus is on Akeem Judd and D’Vaughn Pennamon to lead Georgia’s ground game this coming weekend. They combined for 78 rushing yards and a score in the loss to Ole Miss.

Georgia is 8-2 SU and 4-6 ATS in its last 10 home games. The Bulldogs are pegged at +8,000 to win the national championship this season.
