Texas A&M Aggies vs Auburn Tigers Predictions, Picks, Odds, and NCAA Football Betting Preview | December 5 2020

The Texas A&M Aggies are on the outside looking in of the College Football Playoff rankings, which means they can’t afford a loss against the Auburn Tigers if they plan to sneak into the CFP picture. The Tigers, of course, want to drag the Aggies out of CFP contention just to spoil the fun for another SEC team.

Betting on the Texas A&M Aggies (-6)

Record: 6-1 Overall / 6-1 Conference

The Aggies extended their winning streak to five games, as they dismantled the LSU Tigers in College Station last Saturday, 20-7.  The Aggies overcame quarterback Kellen Mond’s lethargic performance. Mond finished with just 105 passing yards on 11-of-34 completions, but those poor numbers were compensated by Texas A&M’s defense and the legs of running back Isiah Spiller. The Aggies forced three LSU turnovers and recorded three defensive sacks, while Spiller rushed 27 times for 141 yards and a touchdown. Perhaps, the struggles on offense were due to the fact that the Aggies weren’t able to play the previous two weeks due to COVID-19-related reasons,  but it will nevertheless have to improve against Auburn. Texas A&M’s defense, on the other hand, looked good, as it sent a warning to Bo Nix and the Tigers’ attack. Texas A&M is averaging 33.3 points per game and 443.7 total yards per contest.

Texas A&M is 6-4 against the spread in its last 10 games away from College Station.

Betting on the Auburn Tigers (+6)

Record: 5-3 Overall / 5-3 Conference

There was no upset in the latest edition of the Iron Bowl, as Auburn suffered a 42-13 loss at the hands of the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa last Saturday. Bo Nix passed for 227 yards with zero touchdowns and a pair of interceptions on 23-of-38 completions, and his inability to match the sparkling performance of Alabama quarterback Mac Jones spelled the doom for the Tigers. But that’s just Alabama, which is capable of doing that kind of damage against any team this season. And for Auburn, at least it’s past that challenge and will have to prepare for a Texas A&M team that’s not as explosive offensively as the Crimson Tide. Despite the loss, Auburn still put up 347 total yards and went 9 of 19 on third downs against Alabama. Auburn also had control of the ball for over 36 minutes to just over 23 minutes by Alabama. It’s about finishing drives for Auburn, which it will have to improve on against Texas A&M’s defense that’s just 67th in the nation in terms of third-down defense. Auburn is averaging 28.6 points while giving up 22.0 points per game.

Auburn is 8-2 against the spread in its last 10 home games.

Writer’s Prediction

Texas A&M wins, 33-27.
