Texas Rangers vs New York Yankees Predictions, Picks, Odds, and Betting Preview – Season Series August 9-12 2018

The New York Yankees are on pace to win more than 100 games this season, but they are only trending towards a wild card spot in the playoffs, no thanks to the Boston Red Sox playing crazy good. That is also why the Yankees can’t afford to relax, as they go up against the Texas Rangers in a four-game series at home, beginning this Thursday.

He will be in a duel with Happ, who had a fantastic debut as a Yankee on July 29, when he gave up just an earned run on three hits in 6.0 innings of a 6-3 home win over the Royals. Back when he was still with Toronto, Happ pitched for seven innings against the Rangers on April 29, allowing two earned runs on five hits during a 7-2 win at Rogers Centre.

The Rangers have won in each of Minor’s last two starts, including one on August 4, when the pitcher gave up just an earned run on four hits in seven innings of work on the mound to lead Texas to a 3-1 victory at home against Baltimore. He is 4-2 with a 3.26 ERA in his last 10 starts overall. Tanaka, meanwhile, hasn’t surrendered more than two earned runs in any of his last four trips to the mound. He is 3-2 with a 3.57 ERA in six home starts this season.

  • Giancarlo Stanton is 7-for-27 vs. Minor.
  • Shin-Soo Choo is 6-for-14 vs. Tanaka.

Prediction: Yankees win, 5-4.

Game 3:

Starters: Drew Hutchison (0-1, 18.00 ERA) vs. Lance Lynn (8-8, 4.58 ERA)

Hutchison was a mess in his debut for the Rangers after getting traded to Texas by the Phillies. The 27-year-old righty gave up six earned runs on six hits in only three innings of work in a 9-6 home loss to Baltimore on August 5. He is 5-4 with a 3.78 ERA in nine career starts to go with a relief appearance against the Yankees. Lynn vaporized the White Sox in his last start, tossing 7.1 shutout innings to go with nine strikeouts in a 7-0 road win on August 6. He is 1-1 with a 1.99 ERA in four appearances (three starts) since the All-Star break.

  • Aaron Hicks is 3-for-5 vs. Hutchison.
  • Shin-Soo Choo is 4-for-14 vs. Lynn.

Prediction: Texas wins, 5-4.

Game 4:
