Betting on the Toronto Raptors (+7.5)

Regular Season Record: 48-34

The Raptors live to fight another day in the 2022 NBA Playoffs after preventing a sweep in Game 4. They got tremendous performance from Pascal Siakam in that game, as the forward dropped 34 points to along with 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal, while shooting 10/19 from the field. He also went 13/15 from the foul line. His aggressiveness is very much needed by Toronto, especially now that the Raptors might not have Fred VanVleet for some time after the guard suffered a hip injury in Game 4. Helping Siakam in Game 4 was Gary Trent Jr., who chipped in 24 points . Scottie Barnes came off the bench and scored 6 points, but he should be better in Game 5 having warmed up again after dealing with an ankle injury.

The Raptors, who are averaging 104.8 points in the series, are 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 games playing on just a day of rest.

Betting on the Philadelphia 76ers (-7.5)

Regular Season Record: 51-31

The good news for the Sixers is that they are still way ahead of Toronto in the series. History is not kind to teams down 3-1 in a best-of-7 playoffs series, so they should be optimistic that they can finish the series this Monday. For one, they are back at home with an opportunity to close things up. Plus, the Raptors are likely to miss a key player in VanVleet. Moreover, Toronto hasn’t solved Joel Embiid yet. Embiid shot just 7/16 from the field in Game 4, but he still had 21 points while also going 7/9 from the foul line. James Harden completed just 5 of 17 shots from the floor, but was 10/11 from the free-throw line.  So far in the series, Embiid is averaging 26.0 points on nearly 50 percent shooting. Philly has also been great with their outside shooting, connecting on 45.2 percent of their 3-point attempts through four games.

The Sixers are 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 games overall.

Writer’s Prediction

The Sixers win, 108-104.
