We’re in for a treat when the Tulane Green Wave roll into Bobby Dodd Stadium to take on the No. 16 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets for Week 2 of the college football season. The Green Wave most recently made a trip to Duke, where they were blown out of the water (37-7) by a strong read-option offense. They get a sort of an encore when they face Georgia Tech and its triple-option offense.

Betting on the Tulane Green Wave
Tulane had an uneventful season opener, allowing 530 yards of total offense and three touchdowns to the Duke Blue Devils. The Green Wave rushed for just 25 yards on 23 carries as a whole, with Sherman Badie running for 22 yards on three carries. While quarterback Tanner Lee struggled, completing just 24 of 42 passes, he did connect on some big plays with wide receiver Devon Breaux.
[sc:NCAA240banner ]Breaux had 92 yards and a score on four catches against Duke. Georgia Tech struggled the most against the pass last season, allowing 243.7 yards per game (90th in the nation).
If there’s a way for Tulane to score points, it’ll be through an excellent receiver in Breaux lifting his signal caller’s game. With last year’s leading receivers Xavier Rush and Justyn Shackleford now gone, it’ll be up to Breaux to lead the way. He’ll have some help with Teddy Veal, who had five receptions for 49 yards against Duke.
Despite their struggles against Duke, the Green Wave may have what it takes to keep up with Georgia Tech’s triple option offense. They lost 38-21 to a tougher Yellow Jackets side last season, but failed to cover the +7.5 spread back then. Today’s Georgia Tech team lost last season’s top three running backs in Synjyn Days, Zach Laskey and Charles Perkins, who racked up 122 yards against Tulane last season.
Tulane also has some players in the front seven who could stall Georgia Tech’s running game. Linebacker Nico Marley and defensive linemen Ade Aruna, Tanzel Smart and Royce LaFrance all had a tackle for loss in the game against Duke. Marley looks to be the leader of this group, after leading the team with 13.5 tackles for loss last season.
Tulane has lost its last four games as underdogs, going 0-4 against the spread.

Betting on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Poor Alcorn State never had a chance against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Quarterback Justin Thomas played only the first quarter, going 3 for 4 for 54 passing yards with a touchdown and ran in another TD as he led Georgia Tech to a 34-0 lead. He got to enjoy watching some of the Yellow Jackets’ new players run up the score even more toward a 69-6 victory.
Freshman Marcus Marshall ran for 184 yards and two scores, but lost a costly fumble too. Transfer Patrick Skov played as the team’s featured B-back, one of Georgia Tech’s running options (the other two being the running back and quarterback), had 72 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries. Backup quarterback Tim Byerly, and relieving backs Brady Swilling and Isiah Willis all had rushing touchdowns as well.
The Yellow Jackets racked up a whopping 476 rushing yards and nine touchdowns in a 69-6 blowout. Expect Georgia Tech to slow down even for just a bit against Tulane. The Yellow Jackets blew out Tulane last season, but couldn’t run up the score on the road. The Green Wave are returned even starters on defense this season,, so they should have what it takes to slow down Georgia Tech.
Georgia Tech also had quite a confidence booster on defense. The Yellow Jackets allowed just six points in the season-opener on an interception. All-ACC defensive lineman Adam Gotsis is the most experienced in the group and should be solid in the interior; he had a tackle for loss against Alcorn State. He’s supported by a couple of solid pass-rushers in Tyler Stargel and Antonio Simmons, who each had a sack in the season opener. The Yellow Jackets also have a solid cornerback in senior Chris Milton, who could keep Tulane’s Breaux in check. Milton had an interception in the season opener.
Georgia Tech has gone 4-0 ATS in its last four home games.
