Betting on the Washington Football Team (+3)

Regular Season Record: 4-7

How about that nameless Washington Football Team? Ron Rivera’s men pulled off a shocker in Week 13, as they became the first team to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers this season in a 23-17 road victory. With that win, Washington are now on a three-game win streak, heading into Week 14. Washington’s defense has a number of impact players, including the youngsters in Montez Sweat and Chase Young. The two should be busy hounding San Francisco quarterback Nick Mullens in Week 14. Washington is third in the NFL with 36 defensive sacks. The Football Team are also third overall against the pass, allowing only 203.8 passing yards per contest. Meanwhile, Washington’s offense will look for Terry McLaurin to recover from a letdown performance against Pittsburgh’s tough defense, as he only had 14 receiving yards on two catches and six targets. Tight end Logan Thomas, however, can have another good game after leading Washington with 98 receiving yards and a touchdown in the Steelers game.

Washington is 3-1 against the spread in its last four road games.

Betting on the San Francisco 49ers (-3)

Regular Season Record: 5-6

San Francisco is still in the playoff hunt, but its margin for error is microscopically small, especially after the 49ers lost to the Buffalo Bills last Sunday, 34-24. Nick Mullens tried his best, coming up with 316 passing yards and three touchdowns on 26-of-39 completions but he also sabotaged his team with two interceptions. The 49ers’ receiving corps is still lethal with Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, and Kendrick Bourne operating as Mullens’ top targets, but given that Mullens can’t be mistaken for Aaron Rodgers, he is going to need strong protection again in the pocket. Which he did get in the Bills game. Mullens did not take a sack against Buffalo, and he is now being protected by an offensive line that has allowed only 1.3 sacks over the last three games – tied for fourth-best in the NFL over that same span.

The over is 3-1 in the 49ers’ last four home games.
