Betting on the Washington Redskins (+2.5)
The Washington Redskins had their two-game winning streak snapped on Thursday with a stinging 31-26 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The Redskins had no answer for Dak Prescott who accounted for 234 total yards and a pair of scores. It was a disappointing defeat for the defending division champions who fell 3.5 games behind Dallas in the NFC East race with five games remaining in the schedule.
The Redskins will look to get their season back on track when they take on the Arizona Cardinals this coming Sunday. For Washington to record the much-needed victory against Arizona, it needs to get another huge performance from Kirk Cousins. He completed 41 of 53 passes for 449 yards and three touchdowns in a losing effort against the Cowboys. Cousins had an incredible 120.7 passer rating in that game.
With that great showing, Cousins became the first Washington quarterback since Jay Schroeder in 1986 to record consecutive 350-yard games. He had 375 last week against the Green Bay Packers. Things are bound to get tougher, though, for Cousins this coming weekend as he will face an Arizona defense that has been rock-solid the entire season. The Cardinals are tops in the NFL in total defense, allowing just 294.0 total yards per game this campaign.
Washington is 4-1 ATS on the road this season.
Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (-2.5)
Arizona’s losing woes show no sign of abating as the Cardinals crashed to their second straight defeat with a humiliating 38-19 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. The Cards had difficulty stopping the speedy Taylor Gabriel who caught four passes for 75 yards and two scores. It was another disappointing result for the Cardinals who have won just once in their last five games. They are now in danger of missing the playoffs, a season after reaching the NFC championship game.
It won’t get any easier for the Cards this coming weekend as standing in their way in Week 13 are the Washington Redskins. The Redskins are second in the NFL in total offense, averaging a whopping 426.4 yards per game this season. Washington displayed that offensive brilliance in its last game against Dallas, recording an incredible 505 total yards in that Thanksgiving showdown. That won’t faze the Cardinals, however, who possess one of the league’s best defenses this season. They are 11th in the NFL in scoring defense, surrendering just 20.7 points per game this campaign.
What’s troubling Arizona nowadays is its inconsistent offense. The Cardinals are just 19th in the NFL in scoring, averaging 22.3 points per game this season. Injuries to their offensive line aren’t helping their cause with right guard Earl Watford the latest to join sick bay. One positive development for the Cards is the return of running back David Johnson. He ran for 58 yards in the loss to Atlanta. Johnson’s return will help shore up Arizona’s ground attack that is averaging just 106.8 rushing yards per game this season, 17th in the NFL.
Arizona is 2-4 ATS at home this season.
