The .500 Washington Redskins head for Music City and hope to tune up the 8-6 Tennessee Titans in a Week 16 bout. Going into the game, NFL Futures know playoffs are a pipe dream for the Redskins, giving them +100,000 odds to win the Super Bowl and +40,000 to take down the NFC Championship. The Titans on the other hand are at least worthy of playoff conversation, priced at +8000 to win Super Bowl 53 and +2500 to win the AFC. It looks like the sportsbook likes the Titans a lot in this matchup, giving them 10-point favorite status over the visitors. It may have something to do with lean QB Mariota showing his teeth after crushing a Giants linebacker in Week 15.

Betting on the Washington Redskins (7-7)
The Redskins are glad that this game was pushed to Saturday (versus Thursday) as they have a knack for performing on the first day of the weekend, winning their past three Saturday games dating back to 2016. Some bettors expect that trend to continue.
Washington managed to keep their slim playoff hopes alive in their low scoring 16-13 upset over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday after a walk-off field goal. Quarterback Josh Johnson made his first starting appearance in over seven years in Week 15, after being the fourth QB to start for the Redskins in a month since losing Alex Smith (surgery) and Colt McCoy (fractured fibula) to injury while losing faith in Mark Sanchez who stinks up the field as soon as he walks on it. In a respectable performance, Johnson didn’t turn the ball over once against the Jaguars, and managed to throw for a touchdown while rushing for 49 yards. The Redskins totaled just 245 yards and held Jacksonville to 192, forcing two turnovers in the process. Knowing they need luck on their side as they watch the Cowboys progress in the NFC, the Redskins will throw everything they have at the Titans this Saturday, which isn’t a lot, but may be enough to at least cover.
On the road so far this season, the Redskins are 4-3 straight up (SU) and 4-3 against the spread (ATS).
Betting on the Tennessee Titans (8-6)
Tennessee is alive and well enough in the AFC South, two games behind Houston, and vying for a wildcard spot but will lose a tiebreaker to Baltimore, who is thankfully (for Titans fans) an underdog in their Saturday night matchup at the Chargers. The Chargers are picked to win, which fuels Tennessee’s fire here in Week 16, especially after having won its third game in a row Sunday, embarrassing the Giants with a 17-0 shutout to improve to 3-0 against NFC East teams this season. Did we mention how Mariota flattened linebacker Alec Ogletree? It was awesome, even if risky for the feisty yet somewhat fragile Hawaiian. In the end, Mariota threw for just 88 yards, but didn’t really need to do more than that thanks to his running game and with defense doing their job. Meanwhile running back Derrick Henry had another monster game, totaling 170 yards and two TD on a career-high of 33 carries. His aggregate 408 yards over the last two weeks is a Titans team record in back-to-back games.
When playing from the comforts of home this season, the Titans are 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS.
Writer’s Prediction
Titans win and cover over the demoralized Redskins, 35-22.
