Betting on the Washington Wizards (36-37)

The Washington Wizards finally snapped their two-game losing skid with a comprehensive 101-88 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday. Six players scored in double-figures for the Wizards who moved to within 2.5 games of Detroit for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Leading the way for Washington in this critical road win was John Wall. He scored 22 points and dished out 13 assists in 33 minutes of action. He shot 9 of 16 from the field and a perfect 2 for 2 at the free throw line in the win against the Lakers. Wall has been a vital cog in Washington’s success this season, leading the team not only in scoring (20.1 PPG), but also in assists (10.1 APG) and steals (1.9 SPG) as well.

He will look to replicate that incredible performance this coming Tuesday when the Wizards take on the red-hot Warriors. The Wizards will have their work cut out for them, however, against a Golden State side that’s fifth in the NBA in adjusted defensive efficiency, allowing just 100.6 points per 100 possessions this season. The Wizards are 10th in the NBA in scoring, averaging 103.5 points per game this campaign.

The Wizards are 5-5 SU and 4-6 ATS in their last 10 road games.

Betting on the Golden State Warriors (66-7)

Klay Thompson celebrating a 3

Golden State stretched its unbeaten run to four games with an impressive 117-105 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. It was a terrific performance by the Warriors who extended their lead atop the Western Conference standings to five games. At 66-7, the Warriors now own the best 73-game start in the history of the NBA.

Starring for the Warriors in this important win was Klay Thompson. He scored 40 points on 15-of-27 shooting from the field against the 76ers. This is the first time in Thompson’s career that he has scored 40 points in back-to-back games. Also playing a huge part in Golden State’s victory was Draymond Green. He posted his franchise-best 12th triple-double in the win against Philadelphia.

The league leaders will look to sustain the momentum of that huge win when they square off with the Washington Wizards this coming Tuesday. For the Warriors to accomplish that feat, they will need to continue to push the pace against the Wizards and excel on the fast break. The Warriors lead the league in fast break offense, averaging 20.8 points per game this season. The defending champions will have their work cut out for them, however, against a Washington defense that’s conceding just 12.1 fast break points per contest this campaign, 11th-fewest in the NBA.

The Warriors are 9-1 SU and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 meetings with the Wizards.

Writer’s Prediction
