Betting on the West Virginia Mountaineers (23-9)

West Virginia just sent itself to the Big 12 Finals with a win over Texas Tech in the conference tournament’s semifinals. The Mountaineers are now going to be matched up against perennial Big 12 contender Kansas, which they haven’t beaten in two tries this season. West Virginia, however, was never really blown out in those two losses, and were competitive for the most part. The Mountaineers probably could have even won at least one of those meeting if it weren’t for them shooting themselves in the foot with turnovers; they had 13 in their 71-66 loss to Kansas at home on Jan. 15 and 13 more errors during a 77-69 road loss in Lawrence on Feb. 17. The Mountaineers, however, are also a great defensive team, one that has limited opponents in the regular season to only 68.8 points per game and forced 16.9 turnovers. They also finished first in the Big 12 in steals with 8.2 swipes per outing.

West Virginia is 6-4 ATS in its last 10 games against the Jayhawks.

Betting on the Kansas Jayhawks (26-7)

Kansas isn’t new when it comes to lording all over in the Big 12. Having recently won their 13th Big 12 regular season title in a row, the Jayhawks will come into the Saturday’s game brimming with confidence. As mentioned earlier, Kansas has two wins against the Mountaineers this season, and will be relying on its backcourt in trying to make it three victories this year versus West Virginia. Devonte’ Graham and Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk form a solid guard combo. Graham led the team in the regular season with 17.3 points per game while Mykhailiuk had 15.2 per contest. Graham has averaged 15.5 points against West Virginia this season, while Mykhailiuk has averaged 13.0 in those meetings. Kansas is a terrific three-point shooting team, as it nails 10.0 threes per game on 39.8 percent accuracy.

The Jayhawks are 9-1 SU in their last 10 games against TTU.

Writer’s Prediction

Kansas wins, 78-75.
