Betting on the Detroit Lions (odds)

Regular Season Record: 0-1

Although they lost to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1 at home, 27-23, the Lions were able to offer a glimpse of what their offense could do when their starters play. Detroit was able to score on its opening drive on a rushing score by running back D’Andre Swift. The Lions have not won a preseason game, though, since 2018 and will look to try again in Week 2 against a Colts team that also struggled last week. There is certainly life in the Lions’ offense that could take advantage of Indianapolis’ stop unit that had just allowed 369 total yards to the Buffalo Bills last Saturday.

The Lions have covered the spread in three of their last four road games in the preseason. The Over is 4-0 in their last four preseason games away from home.

Bet on the Detroit Lions

Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (odds)

Regular Season Record: 0-1

The Colts came out on the wrong end of a rather high-scoring showdown with the Buffalo Bills last Saturday, as Indianapolis lost in that game on the road, 27-24. Matt Ryan debuted in Colts uniform and played for some snaps, going 6/10 for 58 yards, while Sam Ehlinger led the team with 88 passing yards and two touchdowns on 10/11 completions. That should bolster Ehlinger’s confidence as he looks to get more exposure going forward in the preseason. Michael Pittman Jr. helped the passing attack with 30 receiving yards on just two catches and three targets, but it’s not clear how Indianapolis will handle his load the rest of the way in the preseason. What’s clearer is that the Colts’ defense can make noise after netting three interceptions against the Bills.

The Colts are 5-4-1 against the spread in their last 10 games in the preseason. The Under is 7-3 in the Colts’ last 10 preseason home games.

Bet on the Indianapolis Colts

Writer’s Prediction
