Betting on the Washington Redskins (6-5)

The Redskins failed in their bid to recover from their Week 11’s 23-21 home loss to the Houston Texans, as they fell prey last Sunday to the Dallas Cowboy in Arlington, 31-23. It was Colt McCoy’s first start as replacement for the injured Alex Smith under center. McCoy had a letdown performance opposite Dallas, passing for 268 yards and two touchdowns, but had three interceptions on 24-of-38 completions. But it’s not a time for Washington to mail it in, as the Redskins are still very much in contention for a playoffs spot. But it needs all key members to produce. Running back Adrian Peterson only had 35 rushing yards on 12 carries versus Dallas, so he’ll be among those prime for a bounce back. The Redskins are seventh in the league with just 1.1 turnovers per game, but McCoy had three last game, so giving increasing Peterson’s touches may ultimately be beneficial to Washington, which is averaging 117.7 rushing yards per game.

The under is 5-2 in the Redskins’ last seven road games.

Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (5-6)

The Eagles saved themselves from the jaws of defeat last Sunday, as they overcame a five-point deficit entering the fourth quarter of their Week 12 matchup with the New York Giants to bring home a hard-earned 25-22 victory. Carson Wentz went 20 of 28 for 236 passing yards and a touchdown with no interceptions, while new feature running back Josh Adams collected 84 yards on the ground and a rushing score on 22 carries. Wentz seem to like playing against Washington, as he has picked up a least 300 passing yards in two of his previous three meetings with the Redskins. Washington’s pass defense isn’t imposing, as it is 23rd in the league with 260.9 passing yards allowed per game. That’s the same kind of pass defense Eagles tight end Zach Ertz is looking to punish. Ertz, who had 91 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven receptions and eight targets in the Giants game, leads Philly this season in receiving yards (895) and catches (84).

The Eagles are 3-3 straight up (SU) and but just 1-5 against the spread (ATS) when playing at home so far this season. In their last two meetings with Washington, Philadelphia is 2-0 SU and ATS.

Writer’s Prediction

Philadelphia wins, 23-17.
