2016 Quicken Loans National Long Shots and Best Value Predictions
Where: Congressional Country Club, Bethesda
When: June 23-26, 2016
Lines: view all Quicken Loans National lines
Marc Leishman
Marc Leishman should be a strong contender at the Quicken Loans National after back-to-back top 15 finishes. He has a favorable record at the Congressional Country Club, making four of five cuts in his career with a pair of top 25 finishes. Leishman tied for eighth in his most recent appearance on the course. Don’t sleep on the Aussie golfer, who should have a solid performance in the tournament.Brendan Steele
Brendan Steele has been solid all year long, but is still without a top 10 finish in 2016. The California native could get a big outing this time at Congressional, where the Quicken Loans National offers him plenty of opportunities. Steele tied for fifth in 2014 and 16th in 2015 in his last two trips at Congressional.
Steele also has his game going with three top 20s in his last four starts. The 33-year-old particularly has his tee game ready. He ranks 42nd on tour in strokes gained: tee-to-green.
Gary Woodland
Gary Woodland missed his last start, but had six consecutive top 35 finishes. He certainly isn’t showing some top-caliber play, but he’s due for a big outing at the Quicken Loans National. He he’s had some big performances at Congressional with a 16th place finish at the 2013 Quicken Loans National and a tie for 23rd at the 2011 U.S. Open. He ranks fourth on Tour this season in driving distance, which should help him go a long way in this tournament.
