Betting on the New York Mets (20-12)
New York should be in line for a big bounce-back game tonight especially with Noah Syndergaard set to toe the rubber. He is 2-2 along with a quality ERA of 2.58 and a WHIP of 1.07 across six starts this season. Moreover, Syndergaard’s been delivering the goods on the road. The 23-year-old righty owns a 2-1 win-loss record and boasts a 1.42 ERA in three starts. Syndergaard will also enter this game coming off a pretty solid performance in his last time out. He logged in six innings of two-run ball and fanned six batters against the Padres on May 6. The Mets lost that game, however.
Over on offense, the onus is on Asdrubal Cabrera and Yoenis Cespedes to light up the plate for the Mets. The two have been the team’s most reliable batters.
Cabrera has gone 6-of-20 (.300) with a pair of doubles in the previous five games. He went hitless, though, during the opener against the Dodgers. Cespedes, meanwhile, is 4-of-13 (.307) in the last four games. And more importantly, he boasts a triple-slash line of .304/.418/.768 on the road this season.
New York is 6-4 SU in its past 10 road games. The Mets are also priced at +1,000 to win the World Series.
Betting on the Los Angeles Dodgers (17-16)
Following a thrilling 3-2 win last night, the Dodgers will look to make it two-straight victories over the Mets in tonight’s third meeting. And the chances of that from happening are looking relatively good with Kenta Maeda (3-1, 1.66 ERA) getting the nod.
Maeda is coming off an efficient outing despite earning a no-decision against the Blue Jays last Friday. In that game, he pitched for six innings and surrendered just two runs (both earned), while also striking out seven batters. The rookie pitcher’s been quite solid in three starts at home, going 1-1 along with a 2.29 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP and a .222 opponents’ batting average.
At the plate, meanwhile, the pressure is on the pair of Chase Utley and Adrian Gonzalez to provide some timely runs.
Utley current leads the team in batting (.290) and OBP (.393) this season. He’s also gone 5-of-16 with one double in his last five games. Gonzalez, on the other hand, owns team-bests of 18 RBIs and 34 hits. He also boasts a career batting average of .317 opposite the Mets.
Los Angeles is 3-7 SU in its previous 10 home games. The Dodgers are also priced +1,400 to win the World Series this year.
