Chicago Bulls vs. Houston Rockets (8:00 PM ET)

Line: Chicago Bulls (+6.5) vs. Houston Rockets (-6.5); total: 223.0 – view all NBA lines

Chicago’s lost three of its last four trips to Houston, but the Bulls will have some much-needed momentum heading into this game. They’re on a mini two-game run, with the latest of which a 28-point victory in Oklahoma City. Jimmy Butler led five other players who scored in double figures with his second-straight 28-point performance. He could easily make that three in a row against a rebound-seeking Rockets team that lives and dies on offense this season. But stopping the league’s assists leader James Harden must be at the top of Chicago’s agenda. Harden erupted for 41 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in a loss to Atlanta yesterday.

Writer’s Prediction

Houston (-6.5) bounces back and covers.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Boston Celtics (8:00 PM ET)

Line: Los Angeles Lakers (+11.5) vs. Boston Celtics (-11.5); total: 221.0 – view all NBA lines

On paper, the Celtics are the superior team here and have one of the best (and shortest) basketball players in the world today in Isaiah Thomas. Many have now dubbed him as the “King of Fourth Quarters” with his insane ability to dominate during crunch time. He’s put up 37 or more points in four of the last five contests, including back-to-back 40-point explosions against Detroit and Toronto. Boston has a five-game winning streak going right now, and that should be six against a reeling Lakers’ team that’s in rebuilding mode. Still, the purple and gold can make this game interesting if Lou Williams or D’Angelo Russell turn up the heat. The two are LA’s top scorers this season with 18.3 and 14.5 points per outing, respectively.

Writer’s Prediction

Boston (-11.5) wins and barely covers.
