Betting on the Boston College Eagles (9-20, 2-14 ACC)
Boston College opened conference play with a 2-2 record, including a 96-81 upset over Syracuse. That relatively good start seemed as if the Eagles were in for a much better season, but since then, things have been really, really rough for them.
As of this piece, they’ve lost 12-consecutive games (5-7 ATS) and are dwelling all alone in the basement of their conference. This team has promising talent, but remains short on experience with majority of their best players being freshmen and sophomores.
Jerome Robinson and Ky Bowman lead Boston College with 19.2 and 14.5 points per contest, respectively, and both have managed to score in double digits in their previous nine games.
The latter racked up 29 points and nine rebounds to pace the Eagles in what turned out to be an entertaining first meeting with then-No. 25 Notre Dame on Feb. 14 at Chestnut Hill. Yes, they lost but the fact that their ACC rivals had to rally to get the win should instill a bit of optimism on Jim Christian’s group.
Betting on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (22-7, 11-5 ACC)
Expect an emotional performance from No. 19 Notre Dame, which will be celebrating Senior Night here. That means long-time pillars V.J. Beachem and Steve Vastura are set to grace the floor of Purcell Pavilion for the final time, and thus losing is not an option for the Fighting Irish—who’ve won their last five games (3-2 ATS) and are locked to go dancing.
They’re in for a favorable matchup against the ACC’s worst team—Boston College—but head coach Mike Brey better make sure his men aren’t overly confident. The Eagles gave them a scare last month, particularly with their efficient shooting and ball movement.
Notre Dame should be able to prevent that from happening again. This team has more than enough fire power and a respectable defense to take full control of this rematch. The Fighting Irish are averaging close to 80 points each game, with Bonzie Colson (16.8 PPG) leading the charge, and limit opponents to 69.3 points per contest.
