Betting on the Clemson Tigers (-3.5)
Record: 8-0 Overall / 6-0 Conference
Clemson did not look all too good in its win over the Orange, particularly DJ Uiagalelei, who tossed two interceptions with zero touchdowns in that game. He was even benched for Cade Klubnik. That said, expect Uiagalelei to continue being Clemson’s starter. Either way, Clemson can continue handing the rock to running back Will Shipley and expect big numbers. Shipley, who rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries against Syracuse, has 739 rushing yards and 10 rushing scores this season, thus far. Notre Dame’s run defense is far from impressive and should be soft enough to get punished repeatedly on the ground by the Tigers.
Clemson is 3-1 against the spread in its last four games overall.
Betting on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (+3.5)
Record: 5-3 Overall / 0-0 Conference
Notre Dame has seemingly found stability after its bad start to the season when the team went 0-2 in the first two weeks of action. Since then, the Fighting Irish have won five of six games. They looked much scarier of late, too, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. The Fighting Irish have scored at least 41 points in each of their last five games. Against Syracuse, Notre Dame compiled 362 total yards and allowed just 286 to the Orange. And while it was referenced earlier that Notre Dame isn’t among the elite teams against the run, the Fighting Irish still had allowed only 61 rushing yards to the Orange, letting Syracuse run for only 2.4 yards per carry.
The Over is 5-4-1 in Notre Dame’s last 10 games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Clemson wins, 27-20.
