NBA News & Predictions

Betting on the Minnesota Timberwolves (28-44)

Point Spread: +5

The Timberwolves will be entering the game having lost six straight games (SU and ATS), with the last two being especially terrible. After losing to the Lakers in OT, 130-119, who shot 52.3 percent and had seven players score in double figures, they topped it by bowing to the Blazers the following day, 112-100, and allowing them to have an impressive 62.5 percent shooting clip.

The pair of defeats was telling of how the team’s season has gone, as they were unable to get a W despite getting solid production from their guys. Against L.A., Andrew Wiggins registered a game-high 36, while Karl-Anthony Towns (25 points, 13 rebounds) and Ricky Rubio (19 points, 15 assists) each had a double-double. Versus Portland, meanwhile, they had six guys reaching double-digit points, four of which shot 54 percent or better.

Tuesday will be Minny’s second and final meeting with the Pacers this season. They lost the first one at home, 109-103, and just like what we’ve mentioned, it featured a couple of Wolves players playing big, as Towns, Wiggins, and the now-injured Zach LaVine combined for 77 points that night.

Minny is minus 12.5 on points in their last six, while also allowing opponents to shoot 55 percent from the field.

Betting on the Indiana Pacers (37-36)

Point Spread: -5

Indy is coming off a 107-94 home win over the Sixers. Seven Pacers were able to reach double figures, but it was rising big man Myles Turner that had the best performance, as he posted 17 points, 16 rebounds, and two blocks.

Tomorrow’s contest will be the Pacers’ final contest in their three-game home stand, and true to their consistently inconsistent season, the split the previous two. Additionally,  they are 8-8 SU and ATS in their last 16 outings.

In the aforementioned win over the visiting Wolves, Turner, Paul George, and Jeff Teague provided much of the goods – they scored 75 of the team’s 109 points and collectively shot an efficient 59.1 percent.

We can look for the three to do the same, but note how sudden of their off nights can be. The great unpredictability of this team is also indicated well on some of their rankings, as they are listed somewhere from 15th to 19th in points (104.3 PPG), points allowed (105.2 PPG), offensive efficiency, and defensive efficiency.

Writer’s Prediction

The Wolves (+5) snap their skid, 110-105.
