Betting on the Golden State Warriors (-12)
One win away from a third trip to the finals in three seasons, the Warriors will look to finish off San Antonio later tonight. After a 120-108 win in Game 3, the Warriors improve to 10-SU in their last 10 road games. They have also covered the spread each game during that stretch.
The Warriors’ usual suspects did most of the damage to the Spurs. Kevin Durant led the team with 33 points, Stephen Curry had 21, while Klay Thompson added 17.
Golden State’s outside shooting was as good as ever, nailing down 11 threes on 40.7% accuracy. The Warriors took advantage again of a Kawhi Leonard-less Spurs’ defense, as they shot 54.8% from the field overall. The Warriors’ offense is hard to contain let alone stop it and with the Spurs undermanned, Golden State is primed to sweep San Antonio in Game 4.
The Warriors have full control of the series and they seem to have a mind control over which pace the game should be played. They have to improve on their offensive rebounding, though, as Golden State got outboarded on the offensive glass in Game 3, 15-9.
Betting on the San Antonio Spurs (+12)
The Spurs are on the verge of getting swept by Golden State. Their fan base is close to losing their patience on LaMarcus Aldridge if they hadn’t already.
Aldridge scored 18 points but had a plus-minus of -27 in Game 3. There were lots of moments in which he wasn’t able to take advantage of mismatches just as he had in previous games in the series. Kawhi Leonard might be forced to play Game 4 even if his ankles aren’t 100 percent okay with the Spurs struggling on both ends of the floor.
The Spurs also back up big man David Lee to a leg injury in the game and he’s likely going to be questionable for Game 4. In any case, the Spurs are going to need plenty of their players to step if they are to prevent Golden State from taking out the brooms Monday night.
Jonathon Simmons played well in Game 3, scoring 14 points in 34 minutes. Pau Gasol came off the bench and made 12 points but those were simply not enough. Danny Green has to contribute more. He’s been a disappointment so far in this series, scoring just 21 points in the first three games.
