Betting on the New York Yankees
Luis Severino had it rough in each of his last two outings and he’ll look to right the ship tonight against the White Sox.
Severino (5-3, 3.30 ERA) has allowed a total of nine earned runs across 12 innings in losses to the Angels (10-5) and the A’s (7-6). He’s pitching away from home, though, and that’s something he’ll eye to sustain tonight at Guaranteed Rate Field. In seven road starts thus far this season, Severino is 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA and a .221 opponents’ batting average.
The White Sox’s Jose Quintana is rounding into form of late but he’ll be challenged by the Yankees’ big bats, wielded by Aaron Judge and company. Judge is slashing .332/.440/.699 as of this writing with an majors-leading 26 homers.
The over is 3-0 in Severino’s last three starts.
Betting on the Chicago White Sox
Jose Quintana is pitching better, which should be fuel to trade rumors surrounding the Colombian lefty.
Quintana is fresh from one of his best starts of the year, pitching 6.2 scoreless innings with nine punchouts in a 9-0 road win over Minnesota on June 22. Over Quintana’s last four starts, he’s gone 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA.
The robust Yankees offense presents a major challenge for Quintana but considering his fine form of late, he’s got a chance of improving his career 2-2 slate and 4.35 ERA against the Bronx Bombers dating back to 2012.
Like Severino, Avisail Garcia and Matt Davidson are also having success this month. Garcia is 29-for-88 (.330) with three homers and 14 RBI as of this writing this June. Davidson, on the other hand, is batting .311 (20-for-76) with seven blasts.
The White Sox are 2-1 in Quintana’s last three home starts.
