Week 5 Sunday night football gets to wear a nightcap that features a compelling battle between the undefeated Chiefs and the Houston Texans, who appear to be on the rise thanks to Rookie of the Year candidate QB Deshaun Watson. Watson and his team will have their work cut out for them, considering that The Chiefs didn’t exactly cake walk their way to an early undefeated record. They have a string of victories that includes wins over the Patriots, Eagles, and the Redskins. The Texans also had an impressive win themselves, locking in a 57-14 victory against division rival Tennessee Titans while doling out a hamstring injury to Marcus Mariota.
The Chiefs are 4-0 this season and 4-0 against the spread (ATS), while the Texans are 2-2 straight up and 3-1 ATS.

Betting on the Kansas City Chiefs 4-0 (view point spread)
There’s a lot of pressure being the last remaining undefeated team in the league this season. The Chiefs had to rally to keep that distinction, pulling off a 29-20 win against the Redskins who had a 10-0 head start. That rally was a fun one to watch, as rookie Harrison Butker kicked his third field goal of the night with just four seconds on the clock. But that wasn’t it, as linebacker Justin Houston would go on to nab a fumble on Washington’s attempt at a multi-lateral and returned it for 13 yards that ended in a TD heard all around Vegas as they covered the six-point spread.
Even more impressive? The Chiefs outgained the Redskins 429-331 and outrushed them by a total of 168-111. QB Alex Smith threw for 293 yards and one TD while running for 56 yards and a TD of his own. Rookie running back Kareem Hunt ran 21 times for 101 yards while tight end Travis Kelce had seven catches for 111 yards and a TD.
Week 5 player props offer the chance to bet on Smith for throwing 2 or more touchdowns and give Kareem Hunt good odds to record 2 or more TDs with over 100 rushing yards and 3 or more receptions for good measure.
Betting on the Houston Texans 2-2 (view point spread)
Houston may be split at 2-2, but their Week 4 was so strong it bodes well for their momentum into Week 5. In that game against the Titans, they outgained their opponent by 445-195 and outrushed them 173-86. They also dominated time of possession by a 40/20 margin and won the turnover battle 5-1. Watson hit for 73.5% (25 of 34) of his throws, reeling in 283 yards, four TDs and ran for one of his own (Week 5 props ask if he’ll rush for another). Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins made 10 catches for 107 yards and one TD which is why Week 5 player props give him good odds to do it again.
Writer’s Pick:
While it’s fun to follow the last remaining undefeated streak, it will come to an end for the Chiefs here in Week 5. Smart money here takes the Texans.
