Denver Broncos vs Philadelphia Eagles Predictions, Picks, Odds and Betting Preview – NFL Week 9 2017

The Eagles are perched on top of the NFC with a bold 7-1 record and they show no signs of coming back down to earth as they welcome the Denver Broncos into their nest on Sunday in Week 9. Of course, the Eagles are solid home favorites, and after acquiring running back Jay Ajayi from the Miami Dolphins this week, they look to be unstoppable. Can the Broncos even keep this one within 7.5-points?

Betting on the Denver Broncos (3-4)

Point Spread: (+7.5)

The Denver Broncos are in real danger of missing the playoffs, and if they were to lose this game, it might spell the last of their hopes as their schedule is brutal coming up. They come into this game with a 3-4 record, and have lost three in a row coming into this game. In those three losses they have scored a total of 29 points, which won’t get it done in today’s NFL no matter how good your defense is.

Trevor Siemian just doesn’t seem to be the answer at quarterback, but the Broncos issue might be they don’t have anyone better on the roster at this point. So far this year Siemian has thrown for 1669 yards, nine touchdowns and ten interceptions. He has thrown a lot more terrible passes and he is lucky that interception number isn’t higher.

One thing to watch going into this game is if Paxton Lynch’s shoulder is ready to go. He has been dealing with a shoulder injury but if his shoulder is ready to go, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get the start in this game. The strength of the Broncos is the defense and they are going to need to be good this year. They are currently are giving up 21 points and 261 yards per game. The defense has been good this year, but the defense has been what has let them down.

Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (7-1)

Point Spread: (-7.5)

On the other side of this match up is the Philadelphia Eagles who are the best team in the NFC, and just got better through trade. They acquired Jay Ajayi from the Miami Dolphins for a fourth round draft pick. He is a huge upgrade at the running back position and is going to make the offense even that much better.

Coming into this game the Eagles offense is averaging 29 points and over 370 yards of offense per game. So far this season Carson Wentz has thrown for 2063 yards, 19 touchdowns and five interceptions. He seems to be everything the Eagles hoped for when they took him in the draft. The one thing he has really improved on has been throwing the deep ball.

On the defensive side of the ball the Eagles give up a lot of yards, but not many points. They are giving up over 325 yards per game but only 19.5 points per game. For the Eagles to win this game the offense just needs to have success against a tough Broncos defense. Wentz also needs to continue to not turn the ball over, something he has done well this season.

Writer’s Prediction:

The Broncos offense has struggled, and that will continue in this game. The Eagles will run up the score and that will lead to an easy victory where they also cover the spread. Pick: Eagles (-7.5)
