There’s no point digging up the trends from the historic Patriots-Broncos rivalry from when Peyton Manning was still playing. But we can look to last year, when Denver hosted New England in Week 15 and the Pats won 16-3. As the score indicates, Brady struggled, completing just 16 of 32 for a total of 188 yards and a TD. Denver’s defense has historically given Brady trouble, even without Manning. The Broncos are 3-2 straight up and against the spread in the past five games with the Pats, four of which were on home turf. New England is favored by more than a touchdown, but will the Broncos manage to keep it closer?

Betting on the New England Patriots (6-2)
After a bit of a slow start to the season the New England Patriots seemed to have it finally figured out and come into this game having won four straight games. The Patriots have always been known for having a pretty good defense to go along with a strong offense, but that hasn’t seemed to be the case so far this year.
Coming into this game they are giving up 22.4 points per game which is 17th in the NFL, but in the last few games they have been playing better on that side of the ball. The offense led by Tom Brady of course is still playing really well. Coming into this game they are averaging 27 points per game which is 7th in the NFL.
Coming into this game Tom Brady has been good. He has thrown for 2561 yards, 16 touchdowns and only two interceptions. In five of the eight games the Patriots have played Tom Brady has thrown for over 300 yards. To win this game the offense is going to need to play good.
Although the Broncos defense hasn’t lived up to expectations this year, they are still a good team that has shown the ability to step up at big times. Tom Brady needs to continue to make the smart play, and not try to force anything that isn’t there.
Betting on the Denver Broncos (3-5)
On the other side of this match up is the Denver Broncos, who will all but be eliminated from playoff contention if they were to lose this game. They come into this game having a record of 3-5, and there really hasn’t been anything done the last couple of weeks to show that they can win ball games. The biggest issue for the Broncos has been offensively, especially at the quarterback position. They come into this game averaging 18.8 points per game which is 22nd in the NFL.
After starting the season with Trevor Siemian under center the Broncos turned to Brock Osweiler to start against the Eagles in the last game. That didn’t give the Broncos the spark that they had hoped for. He threw for 208 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions
To win this game whoever gets the start for the Broncos is going to need his best game, and not turn the ball over. The Broncos are going to need to keep up with the Patriots offense, which will be a tough task if the offense and the quarterback can’t get anything going.
Writer’s Prediction:
The Patriots are the better team, and it’s going to show from early on in this game. Tom Brady is going to have a huge game, and that will lead to an easy victory, and a cover of the spread. Pick: Pats (-7.5)
