Betting on Serbia (+650)

Serbia failed to double down on their success in the opener, a 1-0 win over Costa Rica, when they folded against Switzerland last Friday, 2-1. One positive thing about that loss to the Swiss for the White Eagles is that they managed to net a goal. Serbia has yet to get shut out in the tournament, which just shows how capable they are of inflicting damage offensively. And despite that loss to the Switzerland, Serbia does not seem fazed one bit of their looming match with a football powerhouse like Brazil. Serbian forward Aleksandar Mitrovic has even gone as far as to say that “favorites do not get an easy ride here [at the World Cup]”, in a clear display of confidence in his squad. Mitrovic, who scored the first goal of the Switzerland match, is a dangerous man on the attack, having scored 18 goals in 26 games for Fulham and Serbia this year.

Betting on Brazil (-260)

Brazil may have been a bit shaky so far in the tournament, but they are still Brazil. They probably got their rhythm back after downing Costa Rica on Friday, 2-0. It was also in that game in which Neymar finally scored his first goal in Russia. With Neymar getting his groove on, it could spell danger for Serbia, who have allowed at least a goal in three of their last five matches. Neymar aside, Philippe Coutinho is the man to watch for Brazil. Coutinho has two of Brazil’s three goals so far in Russia with Neymar finding his scoring touch, this match against Serbia could be the one in which Brazil finally get it together on offense and on defense. Speaking of defense, Brazil have conceded just one goal in all of their past five outings.

Writer’s Prediction

Brazil blasts the White Eagles with a terrific effort on both ends of the field on their way to a 2-0 win.
