Betting on the Denver Broncos (1-2 Preseason Record)
The Broncos made sure they won’t end the preseason without a win, as they beat the Washington Redskins last week, 29-17, on the road for their first victory this August. Quarterback Case Keenum drove the offense down for 148 yards on 12-of-18 passing completions, but it was rookie running back Royce Freeman who impressed the most on that side of the ball for Denver. The former Oregon Duck rushed for 26 yards and scored a touchdown on five touches. He’s made a strong case to beat Devontae Booker as Denver’s starting running back, but for some reason, Denver is reportedly looking to start Freeman against Arizona, when it should be resting the rookie to avoid injury. The Broncos need to cut down on their penalties. They have the third-most penalties in the preseason with 34.
The Broncos are 5-5 SU and 4-5-1 ATS in their last 10 preseason games.
Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (3-0 Preseason Record)
The Cardinals handed Dallas an ugly loss, as they came out on top of that matchup, 27-3 score. Arizona did a fantastic job on both ends of the field. The backfield poked holes through the Cowboys’ run defense, as the Cards had 146 rushing yards. Rookie Chase Edmonds looked like a quality backup for David Johnson, rushing for 55 yards on 11 carries. The offensive line prevented Dallas’ pass rushers from doing much, allowing just a sack for a loss of five yards. The Cards also forced Dallas to commit eight turnovers. Arizona enters the fourth weekend of the preseason third in the league in scoring defense, with only 11.7 points allowed per contest.
The Cardinals are 3-1 ATS in their last four preseason contests.
Writer’s Prediction
Arizona wins the preseason finale, 24-17.
