Both the Washington Huskies and the California Golden Bears are fresh off invigorating wins, but only one of them can go back-to-back this week. Will the Huskies make it two in a row by living up to the pregame hype as the favorites in this contest? Or will the Golden Bears get their first win in two tries against a ranked opponent? As double-digit favorites going into this weekend’s game, Washington is currently priced at +30,000 to win the College Football Championship.

Betting on the Washington Huskies (6-2 Overall / 4-1 Conference)

The Huskies avoided a losing streak over the weekend, as they defeated the Colorado Buffaloes, 27-13, at home. It was a feel-good win for the Huskies program that suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Oregon Ducks a week prior. Against the Buffaloes, Washington quarterback Jake Browning went 15-of-25 for 150 yards and at touchdown. The Huskies got massive contribution from their backfield that churned out 201 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Huskies could call for more rushing plays this coming weekend, as California is only seventh in the Pac-12 with 154.4 rushing yards allowed per game. Conversely, the Huskies are averaging 174.9 rushing yards per game on the strength of a 20th ranked 60.1 rushing play percentage.

The Huskies are 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS in their last 1o meetings with California dating back to 2008.

Betting on the California Golden Bears (4-3 Overall / 1-3 Conference)

The Golden Bears finally snapped their losing skid last Saturday, as they beat the Oregon State Beavers on the road, 49-7, to end a three-game losing streak. California’s offense and defense went hog wild against the Beavers. Quarterback Chase Garbers threw for 234 passing yards and three touchdowns in an interception-less effort, while running back Patrick Laird and the Golden Bears’ backfield racked up 305 rushing yards. The senior Laird had 22 carries and converted them into 193 rushing yards and three touchdowns. On the other side of the ball, California wreaked havoc on Oregon State’s offense, as the Golden Bears had seven sacks and a total of 75 tackles. Evan Weaver had 10 tackles and 1.5 sacks while Trey Turner III recorded 10 tackles and a sack. The pair are going to be relied on by California’s defense as the team tries to contain Jake Browning and the Huskies’ opportunistic offense.

California is 5-1 ATS in its last six games as a home underdog.

Writer’s Prediction

Washington wins, 33-26.
