The Washington Redskins are currently on top of the NFC East with a 4-2 record, but they’re far from feeling secured. As for the 1-6 New York Giants, their playoff chances are slipping away each week, but they can still right their ship, beginning this Sunday, when they host Alex Smith and company.
The Redskins are +125 to win their division, while the Giants are +12,500 to be crowned as NFC East champs this season.

Betting on the Washington Redskins (4-2)
The Redskins have seemingly found their groove, as they have now won two straight. They beat the Carolina Panthers in Week 6, 23-17, and followed that up with a 20-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7. Up ahead is a road meeting with a struggling and flirting-with-implosion Giants, whom Washington has beaten in three of the last five matchups. Redskins quarterback Alex Smith was economical in his approach against the Cowboys, passing for just 178 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions, while running back Adrian Peterson paced Washington with 99 rushing yards on 24 carries. The Redskins are not exactly an exhilarating offensive team to watch, but they don’t commit many errors. They are second in the league with only 0.8 turnovers per game. They’re likely going to play within that average against the Giants’ defense that’s only 27th in takeaways with 0.9 per contest.
The under is 3-1 in Washington’s last four road games.
Betting on the New York Giants (1-6)
The Giants entered the season confident they’re going to get into the playoffs. Several weeks later, not a few people are unsure whether they will win another game. The team extended their losing streak to four games last Sunday, when they fell victim to the Atlanta Falcons on the road, 23-20. Giants quarterback Eli Manning fared a bit better than in previous games, passing for 399 yards and a touchdown on 27-of-38 completions. Unfortunately, that rare good outing from Manning wasn’t matched by the usually dependable running back Saquon Barkley, who was held by Atlanta down to only 43 rushing yards, though, he did score a rushing touchdown. But no matter what issues the Giants are dealing with, their talent is undeniable, making them a very dangerous team to underestimate. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. posted 143 receiving yards and a touchdown in the Atlanta game and who knows what he can do against a banged-up Falcons secondary.
The over is 2-1 in the Giants’ last three games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
New York wins, 27-24.
