Betting on the Florida State Seminoles (23-6 Overall / 11-5 Conference)

Notwithstanding a loss in Chapel Hill to the No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels, Florida State can be viewed as among the hottest teams in the nation these days. Prior to a meeting with the Virginia Tech Hokies on Tuesday and a matchup with Wake Forest this coming weekend, the Seminoles have won 10 of their last 11 games – an impressive feat considering the conference they are in. That stretch also included an 88-66 walloping at home of Wake Forest, which had no answer to Florida State’s sizzling offense on Feb. 13. The ‘Noles shot 56.5 percent from the field and drained 10 3-pointers against Wake Forest. They also dominated the glass with 43 rebounds to only 27 by the Demon Deacons. In other words, Florida State dominated Wake Forest on almost every area of that contest, which is something that’s likely to be repeated, as the Seminoles have dominated the Demon Deacons for most of this decade.

Dating back to 2011, Florida State is 8-2 straight up (SU) and 8-2 against the spread (ATS) in its last 10 games against Wake Forest.

Betting on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (11-18 Overall / 4-13 Conference)

Thanks to the existence of the Pittsburgh Panthers and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Wake Forest can’t be said as the outright worst team in the ACC. Wake Forest has a punishing two-game stretch to round out its regular season schedule. The Demon Deacons have the No. 3 Duke Blue Devils in Durham this Tuesday and will have a three-day rests before the rematch with Florida State. That long rest isn’t a good sign for Florida State’s outlook to cover the spread, as it is just 4-11 ATS on the season after two to three days of rest, but that doesn’t mean Wake Forest can just be tossed aside and ignored. Although not a great shooting team, the Demon Deacons surprisingly found its touch from deep in the Florida State game, going 11-for-25 from deep for a fantastic 44.0 percent 3-point shooting percentage. They can draw on confidence from that performance to continue heaving 3-point shots early in the game and hope they get hot right away. Chaundee Brown led the team in the FSU game with 20 points, while Jaylen Hoard, who is the team’s second-leading scorer with 13.8 point per game, just had seven points on 3-for-11 shooting. He’ll have to step up and play well if Wake Forest is to upset Florida State.

The under is 7-3 in Wake Forest’s last 1o home games.

Writer’s Prediction

Florida State wins, 77-65.
