Betting on the Golden State Warriors (51-23)

The Warriors are picking up steam again. After a shock loss to Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks, 126-91, last Saturday, Golden State has won back to back against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday (121-114) at home, and against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday on the road (118-113). Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant were too much for the Grizzlies, as both former MVP winners scored 28 points apiece, while DeMarcus Cousins and Klay Thompson had 16 and 13 points, respectively.  Curry seems to like playing against Minnesota this season. The two-time MVP has averaged 34.0 points on 51.5 percent shooting from the field in three games thus far this season versus the Timberwolves. In the Warriors’ 117-107 road win over Minnesota on Mar. 19, Curry dropped 36 points on 8-for-14 shooting from deep. The Warriors had 19 3-pointer in that game, and that kind of hot shooting could be on display once again in Minneapolis. The Warriors are third in the league with 13.0 3-pointers made per contest.

The Warriors are 4-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last six meeting with Minnesota.

Betting on the Minnesota Timberwolves (33-41)

Just when it looked like the Timberwolves were going to get into a groove after breaking a five-game losing skid with a 112-99 road win against Memphis last weekend,  they have gone back in the loss column with a 122-11 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Clippers at home on Tuesday. Karl-Anthony Towns led the Timberwolves with 24 points, but shot just 6-for-17 from the floor. He also made his first basket in the game in the latter half of the third quarter. In the aforementioned loss earlier this month to Golden State, Towns had a monster performance of 26 points and 21 rebounds in 35 minutes of action. He can clearly hold his ground against Cousins and Golden State’s frontcourt. The Timberwolves are very unlikely to survive Golden State if Towns can’t be brilliant from the beginning of the game to the end, especially with the team being banged up right now. The Timberwolves are missing Derrick Rose and Jeff Teague for the rest of the season, while Taj Gibson has not played in Minnesota’s last three games. Andrew Wiggins is having a nice stretch, as he’s averaged 21.3 points on 51.0 field goal percentage over the Timberwolves’ last three games.

Minnesota is 5-3 ATS in its last eight games.

Writer’s Prediction

Golden State wins, 118-105.
