Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (1-1)

The Seahawks suffered their first loss of the preseason in Week 2, as they got stomped by the Minnesota Vikings, 25-19. Seattle wasn’t able to generate a touchdown in that game, relying on the legs of Jason Myers for most of their points. Myers went 4-for-4 on field-goal attempts, while 30-year-old cornerback DeShawn Snead intercepted Sean Mannion pass and took off for a defensive touchdown. Shead is making quite an impression in his return to Seattle, and he’s been delivering impact plays for the Seahawks’ stop unit. In Week 1’s win over the Denver Broncos, Shead gave his team two points with a safety sack. Meanwhile, Paxton Lynch’s status is currently up in the air after suffering a concussion in the fourth quarter of the Vikings game. If he can’t go, look for Geno Smith to dominate the snaps under center.

The Seahawks are 6-4 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 preseason games.

Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (0-2)

If the Chargers are going to weather a potential regular-season absence from running back Melvin Gordon, then they will have to trust the backup pair of Justin Jackson and Austin Ekeler. However, the duo did little to inspire confidence in last week’s close 19-17 home loss to the New Orleans Saints. Jackson rushed for just 33 yards on eight carries, while Ekeler picked up just nine rushing yards on a trio of rushing attempts. That said, the onus is also on the Bolts’ offensive line that didn’t do a fine job of clearing the way for the Chargers’ ground attack. The Chargers will look to be better in rushing the ball against the Seahawks’ defense that was abused for 137 rushing yards by the Vikings in Week 2. Quarterback Cardale Jones played well in the Saints game, passing for 111 yards and a touchdown on 10-for-14 completions. He’s likely bagged the No. 3 QB job away from his main competition in Easton Stick, who only had 62 passing yards with an interception on 5-for-13 completions.

The under is 2-0 in the Chargers’ last two preseason games.

Writer’s Prediction

The Seahawks win, 24-21.
