Betting on the Tennessee Titans (1-2)
After deflating the hype of the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, the Titans suffered two consecutive losses, the latest was against the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road to the tune of a 20-7 score. Tennessee’s offense is starting to become a huge concern for the team. The Titans haven’t scored more than 17 points in each of their last two games, and quarterback Marcus Mariota is starting to catch heat. That said, he has yet to throw an interception this season, while also tossing four total touchdowns. In the Jaguars game, his pass protection was a major problem, as he was sacked a total of nine times for a loss of 55 yards. Mariota can have a bigger space to breathe this coming Sunday, though, as the Falcons don’t have that sharp a teeth on the pass rush. Atlanta only has five sacks through the first three weeks of the season.
The Titans are 2-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last three road games.
Betting on the Atlanta Falcons (1-2)
The Falcons wasted a fantastic game by Matt Ryan last Sunday in a loss to the Indianapolis Colts on the road, 27-24. Ryan completed 29 of 34 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns against an interception to break his deadlock with John Elway for 11th in the all-time most passing touchdowns list. It’s great for Ryan to always have wide receiver Julio Jones downfield. Jones had 128 receiving yards and a touchdown on eight catches and nine targets. However, the Falcons couldn’t stop shooting themselves in the foot with 16 penalties that cost them 128 yards. That was a major issue for the Falcons, who need to play with a whole lot more discipline against Tennessee. The Falcons are averaging 0.10 penalties per play and 11.7 per game, both second-most in the NFL, as of this writing. Nevertheless, Atlanta seems to play solid defense, as the Falcons are eighth in the league with 311.3 total yards allowed per game.
The Falcons are 2-0 ATS in their last two home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Falcons win, 24-21.
