Betting on the New Orleans Saints (4-1)

The Saints continue to have success — with Drew Brees sitting at home and resting his injured hand. For the third time in a row, Teddy Bridgewater led New Orleans to victory as the starter, passing for 314 yards and four touchdowns against just an interception on 26-of-34 completions in their 31-24 home win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. With that kind of performance, it became clearer that the Saints can no longer be underestimated just because it’s Bridgewater handling things under center for the team. Wide receiver Michael Thomas had 11 catches which he turned into 182 receiving yards and two touchdowns in Week 5. After seeing Christian McCaffrey go off against the Jags’ defense last week, Saints running back Alvin Kamara should be feeling good about his chances of putting together a solid performance in Jacksonville. The Saints are averaging 23.0 points per game on the season and 25.3 points over their last three games.

The Saints are 3-0 against the spread (ATS) in their last three games.

Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-3)

Just when the Jags were gaining some steam with back-to-back wins entering Week 5, they got tripped up by the Carolina Panthers on the road last Sunday in a 34-27 loss. The Jags simply couldn’t stop Christian McCaffrey, who ran circles around their defense. However, the Jags should be able to tighten up their defense in a week’s time. It’s not much of a problem, given the talent they have on the team. With or without Jalen Ramsey, the Jags’ defense is stacked, with Myles Jack, Josh Allen, A.J. Bouye, and Yannick Ngakoue on the unit. The Jags’ offense has been steady with Gardner Minshew. Uncle Rico passed for 374 yards and two touchdowns without an interception on 26-of-44 completions. So far this year, the rookie out of Washington State has 1,279 passing yards and nine touchdowns with just one pick thrown. He’s played better than what the Jags even expected to squeeze out of him after Nick Foles sustained an injury back in Week 1.  The Jaguars are averaging 392.6 yards per game, sixth-most in the game, and it’s just all about finding the right playmaker to finish drives. Wide receiver DJ Chark could just be that guy after leading the team with 164 receiving yards and two touchdowns on eight catches against Carolina.

The Jags are 3-1 ATS in their last four games.

Writer’s Prediction
