The drought continues for the Houston Texans as they remain winless after four weeks of football. They suffered a 34-24 home loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4 at home to extend their losing skid. The Jacksonville Jaguars failed to win their third win in a row as they absorbed a 29-21 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles on the road Sunday. Not much is expected of the Texans this season, but quarterback Davis Mills can look like a good quarterback occasionally. In the loss to the Chargers, he led the Texans in outsourcing LA in the second half, 17-7. He finished with 246 passing yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions on 26/35 completions. Mills is yet to be the hero for Houston, but he looks like a quarterback who teams can’t sleep on as he could make defenses pay when they do take their foot off the pedal. Rookie running back Dameon Pierce is also getting better. He rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries versus the Chargers.
The Texans are 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five games.
The Jaguars were reminded by Philly that they are still the Jaguars. Trevor Lawrence struggled mightily in the Eagles game, especially in terms of ball security. He did pass for a couple of touchdowns on 11/23 throws, but he got intercepted once and lost four fumbles. He was also sacked four times for a loss of 26 yards. That being said, a game against the Texans could be just what the doctor ordered to help Lawrence and the Jags regain the confidence they had when they beat the Indianapolis Colts and the Chargers back to back in Weeks 2 and 3, respectively.
The Under is 6-1 in the Jags’ last seven home games.
