Betting on the Auburn Tigers (6-1 Overall / 3-1 Conference)

Following a road loss in Gainesville in Week 7, Auburn bounced right back by punishing the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville last Saturday, 51-10. Auburn started slow, gaining just 170 total yards over the first two quarters, but heated up in the second half in the Tigers erupted for 34 points. Quarterback Bo Nix had another exceptional outing, passing for 176 yards and three touchdowns without throwing a pick. The Tigers’ backfield also stepped up by rushing for 298 yards and three touchdowns. Auburn will need both Nix’s arm and the rushing game to come up with fluid attack to get around LSU’s defense. Auburn began Saturday ranked 17th in the nation in scoring offense with 36.3 points per game and 35th in total offense with an average of 433.7 rushing yards per contest. Perhaps more important is the quality of Auburn’s defense heading into the date with LSU. Auburn has not allowed more than 24 points in games against ranked opponents to date this season.

Auburn is 2-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last three road games.

Betting on the LSU Tigers (7-0 Overall / 3-0 Conference)

Joe Burrow didn’t mind part of his behind being exposed against the Mississippi State Bulldogs when his pants got pulled down during their 26-13 win in Starkville over the weekend. So long as they get the win, Burrow is fine, regardless of how he looked like on TV. Burrow finished the game with 327 passing yards and four touchdowns with zero interceptions on 25-of-32 completions. Burrows is the main propeller of LSU’s offense that just keeps on finding ways of breaking down their opponents’ defenses. The Tigers are averaging 50.1 points per game. Their offense was even too much for the Florida Gators’ stop unit that’s regarded as among the best in the nation, as LSU beat the Gators at home in Week 7, at home, 42-28. LSU can also win through its defense, as the Bulldogs learned last Saturday, when they were limited to just 340 total yards while also being forced to commit three interceptions.

LSU is 4-1 ATS in its last five home games against Auburn. In the two teams’ last meeting, LSU beat Auburn in Death Valley last year, 22-21.

Writer’s Prediction

LSU wins, 24-23.
