Clemson Tigers vs NC State Wolfpack Predictions, Picks, Odds, and NCAA Football Betting Preview – November 9 2019

The Clemson Tigers are still the top dog in the ACC, but they want more than just supremacy in the conference. The Tigers want more respect, and while they won’t likely earn much of that even if they defeat the struggling NC State Wolfpack, they can’t afford a loss or look bad in this matchup in Raleigh.

Betting on the Clemson Tigers (9-0 Overall / 6-0 Conference)

Is it possible that the reigning National Champions aren’t getting the respect it deserves? Despite being undefeated for the 10th week in a row since the start of the season, Dabo Swinney’s Tigers have slid down to No. 4 on the latest edition of the AP Poll. However, that’s perhaps mostly due to the fact that the Tigers have been given pushovers of late. Before defeating FCS team Wofford Terriers 59-14 last Saturday at home, the Tigers blew up the Boston College Eagles also at home the week prior to the tune of a 59-7 score. The Tigers were supposed to beat those teams with the manner they showed, and we’re likely to see that script continue against NC State, which is far from even being an ACC powerhouse this season. The Tigers are seventh in the nation with 42.4 points per game and third with 525.9 total yards per contest. Clemson will make it tough for the Wolfpack to get the job done on offense, with the Tigers’ terrific pass rush that is ranked second in the league in defensive sack percentage.

The Tigers are 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last four games.

Betting on the NC State Wolfpack (4-4 Overall / 1-3 Conference)

At this point, the Wolfpack just want to convince the committee that they are still worthy of postseason play. But first, they will have to win games again. It’s going to be tough doing that against Clemson, but the Wolfpack could still try to look better on the field than in their last two games. The Wolfpack are on a two-game skid, losing to the Boston College Eagles on Oct. 19, 45-24, and to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Nov. 2, 44-10. Both those defeats were on the road, so a home game in front of their fans will be a huge shot in the arm for the Wolfpack’s morale.  The Wolfpack are hobbled with injuries, which greatly weighed the team down this season. Redshirt freshman quarterback Devin Leary could be getting another start under center after throwing for 149 passing yards and a touchdown with two interceptions on 17-of-45 completions in the loss to Wake Forest. NC State’s passing attack should see increased workload, with starting running back Zonovan Knight likely out this week after suffering an injury last Saturday.

The under is 4-1 in the Wolfpack’s last five games.

Writer’s Prediction

Clemson wins, 53-7.
