Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (6-6)

You could feel that Jerry Jones is very close to pulling the trigger and firing Dallas head coach Jason Garrett following the Cowboys’ 26-15 loss at home to the Buffalo Bills. But the Cowboys owner still expressed faith in Garrett, who is nevertheless under an immense pressure to get Dallas a win. The Cowboys could not stop Buffalo’s offense in Week 13, with Allen doing damage on air and on the ground. That despite the Cowboys recording four sacks which resulted in a loss of 27 yards for Buffalo. The Cowboys are still capable of getting into the pocket and taking opposing quarterbacks down, and they should be able to slow Bears signal-caller Mitchell Trubisky, who’s never known to be a terrific decision-maker. Chicago entered Week 14 just 25th in the league in quarterback sack percentage. Conversely, the Bears will find it difficult to take down Dak Prescott, as the Cowboys have the best pass protection in the NFL with just 16 sacks allowed thus far on the season.

The Cowboys are 4-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last six games.

Betting on the Chicago Bears (6-6)

Say what you want to say about Mitchel Trubisky, but he had one of his better starts of the season last week during a 24-20 win on the road over the Detroit Lions. Trubisky went 29 for 38 for three touchdowns and an interception, and while he had some lapses and questionable decisions made in the game, the Bears must still be happy to see the starter bounce back from a string of lackluster performances. Trubisky was consistent in finding the pair of Anthony Miller and Allen Robinson downfield. Miller led the team with 140 receiving yards on nine catches and 13 targets while Robinson finished with 86 receiving yards and a touchdown on eight receptions and 12 targets. Wide receiver Taylor Gabriel’s absence was barely felt at all, though, the Bears are still hopeful that they can get back their WR2 in time for the matchup against the Cowboys. Gabriel missed Week 12 due to a concussion.

The Bears, who are averaging 17.7 points and giving up 17.3 per contest, have seen the total go under in five of their last six games.

Writer’s Prediction

The Cowboys win, 23-19.
