Betting Preview for the New York Jets vs Indianapolis Colts Regular Season Week 3 Game on September 27, 2020

Where: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis

When: Sunday, September 27, 2020, 4:05 PM ET

TV Broadcast: CBS

Betting on the New York Jets (+10.5)

Regular Season Record: 0-2

Adam Gase should be feeling wary of his job following two losses to start the season. In neither games did the Jets looked competitive, losing to the Buffalo Bills 27-17 in Week 1 and 31-13 to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2. Jets quarterback Sam Darnold is in dire need of help, but instead of more, he’s getting less of that apparently, with the offensive line likely to miss center Connor McGovern at least for Week 3’s outing due to a hamstring issue and wide receiver Breshad Perriman trending towards another no-show because of an ankle injury. With running back Le’Veon Bell also on the injured reserve list, the Jets will have to squeeze every ounce of talent from Darnold, who has passed for 394 yards and two touchdowns against an interception in the last two games. The Jets’ defense offers more optimism for the team, as New York is ninth in the league in turnover margin per game (+0.5). Indianapolis already lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1, so the Colts are more than vulnerable against teams perceived as mere bonuses.

The over is 2-0 in the Jets’ last two games.

Bet on the NY Jets

Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (-10.5)

Regular Season Record: 1-1

After getting humiliated in a Week 1 loss to the Jaguars, the Colts responded, particularly their defense, by defeating the Minnesota Vikings at home last Sunday, 28-11. The Colts’ stop unit was expected to flourish this season but bombed out in the Jags game in what appears to be an early wake-up call for Philip Rivers and company. Against the Vikings, the Colts intercepted Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins three times and recorded three sacks. Prized offseason trade acquisition DeForest Buckner had 1.5 sacks and four QB hits in the Minnesota game, and given the dilapidated state of the Jets’ offensive line, it appears that the Colts’ defense is going to have a fun day wrecking Darnold in the pocket. On offense, the Colts suffered a loss, with wide receiver Parris Campbell put on the IR because of a PCL injury. Nevertheless, the Colts have enough talent to dominate the Jets. Running back Jonathan Taylor, who rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries in the Vikings game, will face a Jets’ defense that is 25th in the NFL against the run.

The Colts are 3-1 against the spread in their last four games at home.
