Two one-win NFC East teams will duke it out at the Lincoln Financial Field this Thursday to kick off Week 7 of the 2020 NFL season, as the New York Giants look to follow up on their Week 6 win with another. Meanwhile, the Eagles aim to prevent a three-game losing skid.
At last, the Giants got their first win of the season after scoring a close 20-19 victory at home in Week 6 against the Washington Football Team. It wasn’t a clean performance for the Giants, but Daniel Jones did just enough on offense, and the defense held its ground against Washington. Jones passed for 112 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 12-of-19 completions. He also led the team with 74 rushing yards on seven carries. Jones is not anywhere near the top tier of quarterbacks in the NFL today, but the Giants will just have to rely on him against Philadelphia’s defense that’s been inconsistent against the pass. The Eagles are allowing 229.7 passing yards per game, which is 12th in the league, but are 25th overall with 68.75 opponents pass completion percentage. After sacking Washington quarterback three times last Sunday, the Giants’ defense can look forward to tossing Carson Wentz into the ground. Wentz is the most-sacked QB in the league today, as he’s been taken down 25 times through the first six weeks of the season.
The Giants are 6-0 against the spread in their last six road games.
The Eagles picked up another loss last Sunday, as they fell prey to Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens at home, 30-28. The Eagles also lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road in Week 5, 29-30. Against those two elite defenses, the Eagles have scored 29.5 points on average, which is something they can feel good about heading into a matchup against the Giants. Sure, the Eagles’ defense has been a problem, but relatively speaking, they should be able to handle an offense that’s being led by a quarterback who’s a bust in most people’s books. The Giants are scoring just 16.8 points and generating only 275.3 total yards per game – both are ranked 31st in the NFL. The Eagles might not have running back Miles Sanders in Week 7, as he suffered a knee injury against the Ravens. If he can’t go, Boston Scott will lead the Eagles’ rushing attack that is averaging 122.3 yards per contest – 12th overall.
