Betting on the Seattle Seahawks (-3.5)
Regular Season Record: 5-0
It’s good to have Russell Wilson for the Seahawks. Check that. It’s great to have arguably the best quarterback in the league right now for Seattle, which entered its Week 6 bye with a clean 5-0 record following a close 27-26 win at home over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5. With Wilson under center, the Seahawks managed to have the highest-scoring offense in the league, with an average of 33.8 points per game. Wilson is tops among all quarterbacks with 19 touchdown passes to go with 1,502 passing yards and just three interceptions. Wilson is having a blast throwing at his cartoonishly huge quarterback in DK Metcalf, who had 93 receiving yards and two touchdowns on six catches against Minnesota. Metcalf is just so big to be handled on single coverages. Wilson’s accuracy and Metcalf’s physical gifts have been a lethal combination this season, and one that will surely be felt even by Arizona’s decent defense. The Seahawks are fourth in the NFL with 280.4 passing yards per game.
The Seahawks are also 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall.
Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (+3.5)
Regular Season Record: 3-2
In Kyler Murray, the Cardinals have a Russell Wilson-lite. Like Wilson, Murray is on a groove this season, scoring touchdowns through the air and ground. Murray, who passed for two touchdowns and scored a rushing TD in last Monday’s 38-10 destruction of the Dallas Cowboys, can easily indulge himself in a shootout with Seattle. For one, the Seahawks have a leaky defense that’s ranked worst in the league with 471.2 total yards allowed per game. Seattle is especially atrocious against the pass, as it is also 32nd in the NFL with 370.4 total yards surrendered per contest. The Cardinals could be looking at the exact scenario on offense as they did when they torched the Cowboys for 438 total yards, though Seattle is different in the sense that it’s more capable of striking back on its own offensive drives. That said, Arizona isn’t too shabby on defense, as it sits 13th on total defense with just 346.2 total yards surrendered per game.
The under is 2-0 in the Cardinals’ last two games at home.
Writer’s Prediction
The Cardinals win, 30-26.
