Betting on the Buffalo Bills (+2)
Regular Season Record: 3-5
Josh Allen is an MVP contender and he made that very clear when he led the Bills to a 44-34 home win over Russell Wilson, another MVP hopeful, and the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday. Allen got a kick out of slicing the Seahawks’ defense all game long, as he finished with 415 passing yards and three touchdowns without an interception 31-of-38 completions. With John Brown healthy again, the Bills can stretch the field better, which is being capitalized by WR1 Stefon Diggs. Brown had 99 receiving yards on eight catches against the Seahawks, while Diggs came away with 118 receiving yards on nine receptions. The Bills are coming to Arizona having won three of their last five games on the road. Buffalo’s defense will have a target on the back of the mobile Kyler Murray this Sunday, and the Cardinals’ signal-caller could feel the wrath of the Bills’ pass rush that has produced 24 sacks this season, sixth-most in the NFL, so far this season.
The Bills, who are third overall in third-down percentage completion (50.47), are 4-4 against the spread in their last eight games.
Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (-2)
Regular Season Record: 5-3
Despite everything Kyler Murray did in Week 9, the Cardinals still lost to the Miami Dolphins at home, 34-31. Murray was a one-man team in that game, as he finished with 283 passing yards and three touchdowns without an interception on 21-of-26 completions. Moreover, he paced the Cardinals with 106 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. But the Cardinals will have to stop relying so much on Murray, especially on the ground. Help could be on the way for Murray, though, as running back Kenyan Drake has a shot of playing this weekend versus the Bills. As of this writing, Drake is day-to-day with an ankle injury. If he can’t go again, Chase Edmonds will mostly cover for his absence. Edmonds had a hard time finding spaces to run on against Miami, which limited him to just 2.8 yards per carry. The Cardinals’ backfield can find it easier to establish their ground attack in Week 10 against Buffalo’s defense that is only 21st in the NFL with 125.9 rushing yards allowed per contest and 25th with opponents averaging 4.6 yards per rushing attempt.
The over is 2-0 in the Cardinals’ last two home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Bills win, 28-25.
