The Kentucky Wildcats need a win not only to boost their record, but also to heal their bruised egos after the punishment they went through last week at the hands of the Alabama Crimson Tide. However, that’s going to be easier said than done, with the Florida Gators up ahead for the Wildcats. Then again, who knows?

Betting on the Kentucky Wildcats (+24.5)
Record: 3-5 Overall / 3-5 Conference
Kentucky got rolled in a blanket and thrown into the sea last week by the Alabama Crimson Tide in a 63-3 loss in Tuscaloosa, but if anything, at least the Wildcats are not going to see that team again. The Gators are still a tough team to deal with, but at least it’s not Alabama, which is a good thing in itself for the Wildcats, who can take advantage of Florida’s suspect defense, especially against the air. The Gators are just 67th in the nation with an opponents’ completion percentage of 62.6 and just 99th with opposing teams averaging 268.9 passing yards per game. The Vanderbilt Commodores even managed to rack up over 300 passing yards last week against Florida.
Kentucky is 5-5 against the spread in its last 10 games overall. The over is 2-0 in Kentucky’s last two games, but the under is 4-2 in the last six.
Betting on the Florida Gators (-24.5)
Record: 6-1 Overall / 6-1 Conference
Kyle Trask and the Gators’ offense should be able to take care of business against Kentucky. The Wildcats were absolutely destroyed by Alabama last week despite the Crimson Tide not playing up to snuff, relatively speaking. In Florida, the Wildcats will get the eighth-highest scoring team in the nation, as the Gators are putting up 44.7 points per game. The Gators are also ninth with 522.3 total yards per game. A big reason for that success on offense is Trask, who’s driving the prolific Florida passing attack that is producing 377.6 passing yards per game. In the Gators’ 38-17 road win over the Commodores last week, Trask went 26 of 35 for 383 passing yards and three touchdowns without an interception.
Florida is 7-2-1 against the spread in its last 10 games overall. The over is 3-1 in the Gators’ last four games.
Writer’s Prediction
Florida wins, 40-17.
